Robotics Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Robotics Engineer at Black Coffee Robotics builds production-grade robotics software across client projects and internal products. You will translate high-level system objectives into robust, well-tested, and maintainable code.

We work heavily on arm-based systems, motion planning, perception-integrated manipulation, and simulation-first development using tools like ROS2 and Isaac Sim. Alongside client work, we are actively building in-house products focused on motion planning and robotics simulation.

This role is execution-driven and suited for engineers who enjoy building real systems, not just prototypes. If you need detailed instructions for every task, this role is not for you.

WORK LOCATION

The position is fully remote (within India)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Architect and implement ROS2-based robotics systems
  2. Build robust motion planning, controls, and perception pipelines
  3. Develop and validate systems in Isaac Sim before hardware deployment
  4. Write clean, production-level C++ and Python
  5. Handle edge cases, failures, and performance bottlenecks proactively
  6. Review code and raise the engineering bar
  7. Mentor interns and junior engineers
  8. Support deployments and interact directly with clients when required

WHAT WE EXPECT

Technical

  • 1–3 years of serious robotics software development
  • Strong C++ and  Python programming
  • Deep, hands-on ROS2 experience
  • Strong understanding of planning, controls, kinematics, and transforms
  • Experience with simulation tools (Isaac Sim, Gazebo, or MuJoCo)
  • Comfortable working in Dockerized environments

Personal

  • High ownership and ability to execute independently
  • Strong problem-solving ability
  • Clear communicator in a remote environment
  • Comfortable mentoring and reviewing peers’ work

If your primary experience is coursework or small projects/demos, this role will likely be overwhelming.

PERKS

  • Direct exposure to real-world robotics deployments
  • Ownership across both client projects and internal products
  • Opportunity to shape core motion planning and simulation tooling
  • Remote flexibility with high responsibility
