Assistive Robot Arm for Quadriplegic Users

Wheelchair-mounted assistive robotic arm for independent daily living.

A US-based assistive robotics company was developing a robotic arm to help quadriplegic users perform basic household tasks independently. The system needed to be safe, easy to use, and capable of autonomous manipulation in real-world indoor environments.

Our Contributions

We developed the complete end-to-end software stack for the wheelchair-mounted robotic arm. Our work included autonomous motion planning, AI-based perception for object detection and localization, and a speech-based user interface for hands-free task execution.

Results & Impact

• Demonstrated autonomous task execution such as pick-and-place, door opening, and object retrieval

• Enabled safe real-world trials in a clinical setting

• Helped the client validate technical feasibility without building a long-term internal robotics team
